Bush leads Raiders into first place in AFC West

I can hear ASAT founder Terry Nistor doing jumping jacks all the way in St. Albert this morning.

His Oakland Raiders are in first place in the AFC West.

On Thursday night in San Diego, Raiders’ running back Michael Bush had the second best game of his NFL career as the Raiders defeated the San Diego Chargers 24-17.

Bush ran for 157 yards on 30 carries with a touchdown, and added three more catches for a career high 85 yards.

His 157 yards were 20 yards less than the 177 yards he ran for on December 28, 2008, where he posted 177 yards in his rookie season.

Bush was so good Thursday night that the NFL Network’s Brad Nessler felt Bush’s name  was wrong at the back of his jersey. It should have read Rush.

Raiders’ quarterback Carson Palmer also did an excellent job in finding wide receiver Denarius Moore, who had five catches for 123 yards and two touchdowns. The defense also did an excellent job in covering the Chargers’ number one wide receiver threat in Vincent Jackson, who was limited to only one catch for 22 yards.

With the win Oakland improves to 5-4, while San Diego falls to 4-5.
