The Washington Wizards have fired head coach Flip Saunders. The news should come as absolutely no surprise whatsoever.
The Wizards are 2-15, and have the worst record in the National Basketball Association. The club replaced him with assistant coach Randy Wittman.
Wittman has head coaching experience in the past with the Cleveland Cavaliers and Minnesota Timberwolves. However, he was never successful in the position of power, as he went 100-207 at the helm.
The Wizards were expected to be much better this season, led by sophomore John Wall, who was the NBA’s first overall draft pick in 2010. Wall leads the team with 16.2 points per game and 7.2 assists per game, but they’re not getting a lot of help from everyone else except for Nick Young. I think the team was expecting a lot more when they acquired Rashard Lewis for Gilbert Arenas over a year ago. Lewis is only averaging 8.7 points per game.
