The Toronto Blue Jays have decided to part ways with Vladimir Guerrero without him even dressing in a Toronto Blue Jay uniform.
On Tuesday, the Blue Jays parted ways with Guerrero, who was playing for the Las Vegas 51s (Blue Jays AAA team) in the Pacific Coast League.
Guerrero had just come off solid game where he went four for five in a 13-3 win over Tucson.
Guerrero, who is 37 years of age and is one of the greatest Montreal Expos in history, felt he was ready to play now with the Blue Jays. Toronto GM Alex Anthopoulos disagreed and felt Guerrero needed more time to polish his skills.
I’m sorry. But really Alex? Guerrero is a slugger, and a valuable bat that would help your team now and just maybe get into the postseason for the first time in two decades. The guy has 449 career home runs and wanted to play in Toronto. How many guys in the last ten years have said that?
So you’re telling me that Guerrero is not as good as David Cooper, who is batting .100 in his last ten at bats and has four career home runs in 122 Major League at bats. You’ve made a mistake Alex. Let’s see how many Blue Jays fans agree with me.
What do you think? Should the Blue Jays have given Vlad a chance? Please comment below.
