Jamieson leaves Eskimos as VP of Communications

According to the Canadian Football League, Edmonton Eskimos’ Vice-President of Communications, Dave Jamieson has resigned.

The timing of the resignation seems off however, as the club began training camp on Friday. If you go to the Eskimos’ website, you won’t find the information there because remember, Jamieson was in charge of the Communications department.

I never met him, but my good friend, Jaime Stein of the CFL tweeted “Dave Jamieson quits Eskimos. Best media relations guy in the league packs it in. No new job to go to.” When the Canadian Football League’s Manager of Digital Media praises your work, you obviously have done something right.

Jamieson spent the last 14 years as an Eskimo, and there’s no report yet what he’ll do next.  His resignation comes at a time when the Eskimos’ new President and Chief Executive Officer Len Rhodes is just settling in.

With all of the changes heading into Edmonton this season, it could be a nightmare for anyone who takes the position. Jamieson was as professional of people as they come and will be missed.
