One of the best running backs of all-time has decided to call it a career.
I will always have LaDainian Tomlinson in high regard because he played an instrumental role in winning me Calgary’s most prestigious fantasy football pool in 2007.
Tomlinson was the NFL Most Valuable Player with the San Diego Chargers in 2006 when he had a career high 1815 rushing yards and set an NFL record with 31 touchdowns in a season.
Tomlinson played with the Chargers from 2001-2009 before going on to play two more years with the New York Jets.
Despite his outstanding regular season success however, a Super Bowl eluded him.
Injuries however plagued Tomlinson late in his career. He missed games due to injuries to his toe, groin and ankle.
Tomlinson spent last year as basically the 1a running back for the Jets behind Shonn Greene. It will be interesting to see who the Jets decide to put in at running back this season to give Greene some valuable rest during games.
