A battle of the last two undefeated teams in the Canadian Football League will take to the field today at Mosaic Stadium in Regina.
The 2-0 Saskatchewan Roughriders will host the 2-0 British Columbia Lions (Saturday, 1pm, TSN).
The Roughriders have outscored the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Edmonton Eskimos a combined 60-17, while the Lions have outscored the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Winnipeg Blue Bombers 72-52.
This will be a contest between the Lions offense versus the Roughriders defense. If Geroy Simon and Arland Bruce III are able to expolit Craig Butler and Chris Mackenzie, the Lions should have a good day.
Here are the other events I’ll be watching this weekend:
Sunday–MLB–Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim @ New York Yankees–Sportsnet One–11am–In a game where two of the elite teams in the American League will square off, the Yankees lead the American League East at 53-33. Second baseman Robinson Cano could be considered the best player at his position in the game today. He is batting .313 with 20 home runs and 51 runs batted in. It will be a strong pitching matchup as well, as both starters (Ivan Nova of the Yankees and Jered Weaver of the Angels) have each won ten games this season.
Sunday–MLB–Houston Astros @ San Francisco Giants–Sportsnet–2pm–The Giants at 47-40 are in a battle right now with the Los Angeles Dodgers for first place in the National League West, with the Giants only half a game back. Former Yankee Melky Cabrera has had an outstanding season, as he is third in batting average at .352. The Giants will send Matt Cain to the mound. Cain has a great WHIP of 0.96.
Sunday–MLB–St. Louis Cardinals @ Cincinnati Reds–TSN2–6pm–Two teams in the hunt for the National League Central crown will play in Ohio in primetime. The Reds are currently tied with Pittsburgh for first place, and are 2.5 games ahead of the Cardinals. Toronto native Joey Votto leads the Reds attack with a .344 batting average. The Cardinals meanwhile are adjusting to life without Albert Pujols. Carlos Beltran leads the National League with 65 runs batted in.
