Mitchell’s suspension upheld

Khalif Mitchell, the defensive lineman for the British Columbia Lions, will have to serve his two game suspension after all.

Mitchell was originally suspended by the Canadian Football League for hyperextending the arm of Edmonton Eskimo offensive lineman Simeon Rottier in the Eskimos’ impressive 27-14 win over the British Columbia Lions on July 20.

No penalty was called on the play and Mitchell received a two game suspension by Canadian Football League Commissioner Mark Cohon for the incident.

Rottier, a very good friend of Prospect Magazine, was brought into Edmonton from Hamilton to improve the offensive line, and so far has done an admirable job.

In other Eskimos’ news, defensive back Ronnie Prude is questionable for the Eskimos game Friday against Montreal after injuring his neck in Edmonton’s 28-20 win over Saskatchewan last week at Commonwealth Stadium.

In that game, J.C. Sherritt was named defensive player of the week after collecting seven tackles and an interception.
