Happy Monday!

This week on the show, we look at the tragic death of former NFL star Junior Seau and the latest bounty suspensions from that league, as well as news from the NHL that Raffi Torres is appealing his lengthy suspension. We also look at the situation in the Nashville Predators camp, along with speculation that the NY Islanders might soon have a new home.

In the GABBYs: Leo Messi, Jose Mourinho, Jered Weaver, the NY Knicks, the Montreal Canadiens and Jeremy Affeldt. The Punchline this week is, once again, the Charlotte Bobcats!

Canadiens trade Kostitsyn to Predators

Monday, February 27th, 2012

I literally feel like I am on cloud nine today folks! I not only predicted yesterday that Andrei Kostitsyn would be the most likely player traded today, but I also successfully predicted the team he would be traded to.

On Monday Kostitsyn was traded from the Montreal Canadiens to the Nashville Predators for a second and fifth round draft pick in 2013.

Andrei, will now get to join his brother Sergei. So far this season, Andrei has 12 goals and 12 assists in 53 games, but became expendable because he is an unrestricted free agent.

The Canadiens could have a very busy day today because their practice was cancelled.

This was the second move made between the Predators and Canadiens this year. On February 17, defenceman Hal Gill was traded from Montreal to Nashville with a draft pick for Blake Geoffrion, Robert Slaney and a draft pick.

NHL Trade Deadline Preview

One of the more intriguing days on the hockey calendar takes place tomorrow. The National Hockey League Trade deadline takes place at 1pm Mountain tomorrow.

Here are is my list of the top ten players I am projecting to be traded:

10) Nikolai Khabibulin–Edmonton Oilers–Even though he is not an unrestricted free agent, the Oilers have Devan Dubnyk and Yann Danis to lead them until they are ready to be respectable. Neither are the long term answer, but a year at the status quo in net will give added heartburn for Oilers fans.

9) Kristian Huselius–Columbus Blue Jackets–The former Calgary Flame has only played two games this season and not since December 2 because of a groin injury but is expected back soon and could provide a contender with offensive depth.

8Steve Staios–New York Islanders–The former Edmonton Oiler and Calgary Flame is 38 years old and could provide a team with some steady presence on defence. Despite not having a goal, he has an impressive 104 blocked shots.
