The Oklahoma City Barons seem to have run into a hot goaltender.
Ben Scrivens of Spruce Grove, Alberta made 30 saves Wednesday night as the Toronto Marlies beat the Oklahoma City Barons 3-0 to take a 3-1 series lead in the American Hockey League’s Western Conference Final.
The Barons are the affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers and the Marlies are the affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
According to the Canadian Press, the Marlies are trying to reach the Calder Cup Final for the first time since 1992 when the St. John’s Maple Leafs lost in seven games to the Adirondack Red Wings. St. John’s current American Hockey League affiliate, the St. John’s IceCaps, were swept in the Eastern Conference Final to the Norfolk Admirals, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Tampa Bay Lightning.
