Weekend Sports Preview–Super Bowl, NHL, NBA, Bobsledding

Saturday, February 4th, 2012

Super Bowl XLVI takes place tomorrow from Indianapolis, as the New York Giants play the New England Patriots in a rematch of the Super Bowl from 2007 when the Giants beat the Patriots 17-14 in Phoenix, Arizona.

Currently the Patriots are a 2.5 point favourite.

With all the talk that the Giants have the better defense than the Patriots, I simply don’t buy it. The Patriots allowed 58 fewer points than the Giants this season.

Offensively, there has been some concern regarding who Tom Brady will be able to throw to at the tight end position with Rob Gronkowski hurt. People must remember that Aaron Hernandez is the best backup tight end in the NFL.

I’m picking the Patriots to win their fourth Super Bowl 34-16. For more information on Super Bowl XLVI please go to my blog earlier in the week.

Lumsden played six seasons in the Canadian Football League, four with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, one year with the Edmonton Eskimos and last season with the Stampeders.

A running back, Lumsden was one of the best players in the history of that position in Canadian University football. Lumsden won the Hec Crighton Trophy at the University of McMaster in 2004.

At the professional level, Lumsden was a force on the football field for the Tiger-Cats in 2007 and 2008. In 2007, Lumsden rushed for 743 yards on only 98 carries, averaging 7.6 yards per carry and three touchdowns. The following year, Lumsden rushed for 584 yards on only 87 carries, averaging 6.7 yards per carry and five touchdowns.
