The Calgary Vipers destroyed the Edmonton Capitals on Thursday to take a 2-1 series lead in the best-out-of-seven North Division Championship Series of the North American Baseball League.
The Vipers dominated the first four innings outscoring the Capitals 11-0, en route to a 15-3 thrashing of their provincial rivals at Foothills Stadium.
Third baseman Chad Ehrnsberger led the Vipers’ attack going three for six with four runs batted in. The Vipers had 14 hits in all, and also recorded a pair of hits each from first baseman C.J. Ziegler and centerfielder Jonny Kaplan.
With the Vipers leading 3-0 in the second, Ziegler recorded a key two run double that scored shortstop Wilver Perez and pitcher Mark Michael, to put the Vipers up 5-0.
