The Calgary Vipers are headed to the postseason in their first year of the North American Baseball League.
On Wednesday, the Vipers defeated the Chico Outlaws 11-7. The Vipers can finish no worse than second place in the North Division. Currently, at 47-26, they have a game and a half lead on the second place Edmonton Capitals (47-29).
The Vipers got strong offensive performances on Wednesday from second baseman Jimmy Rohan (three hits), and two hits each from center fielder Jonny Kaplan, right fielder Bryan Burke, catcher Al Quintana and shortstop Wilver Perez.
Kaplan and Perez also hit home runs. For Perez, it was his tenth of the season.
Leading 3-1 in the fifth inning, the Vipers blew the game wide open with four runs to take a commanding 7-1 lead.
The Vipers will host the Yuma Scorpions in a four game series starting tonight at Foothills Stadium. Game time is 6:30pm.
