Seven inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame

Even without a Hall of Fame Game, the NFL world came together to honour those inducted into the 2011 Hall of Fame class in Canton, Ohio on Saturday.

The list included Atlanta Falcons and Dallas Cowboys’ cornerback Deion Sanders, St. Louis Rams’ running back Marshall Faulk, Denver Broncos’ wide receiver Shannon Sharpe, Chicago Bears’ defensive end Richard Dent, NFL Films’ founder Ed Sabol, Washington Redskins’ linebacker Chris Hanburger and Los Angeles Rams’ linebacker Les Richter.

Out of the seven, I am the most familiar with Sanders, Sharpe, Dent and Faulk.

Sanders, who also spent a short period of time with the Washington Redskins, Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers, was known for his outstanding personality and versatility. He would be occasionally used as a wide receiver on the football field. Sanders also had an outstanding career in baseball, mostly with the Atlanta Braves. In 1992, he led the Majors in triples with 14.

Some of Sanders’ accolades include being named the Associated Press Defensive Player of the Year while with the 49ers in 1994. He was also a member of the Pro Bowl eight times and won two Super Bowls, with San Francisco in 1994 and Dallas in 1995.
