Eskimos trounce Blue Bombers

I guaranteed an Edmonton Eskimo win last night earlier in the week and by golly they delivered!

However, it is the Eskimos’ defense that continues to play at a very high level, so much so they played a major part in generating the Eskimos points and great field position Friday night in their 42-10 romp over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Friday night the Eskimos got two first half touchdowns from turnovers–a Clint Kent 29 yard fumble return for a touchdown and a T.J. Hill 32 yard interception return for a touchdown.

The Eskimos also generated four other points in the first half from two other Winnipeg turnovers.

Stampeders say goodbye to four players

The Calgary Stampeders have made four significant moves just a week left before the start of the regular season.

According to TSN, the Stampeders released wide receiver Ken-Yon Rambo along with non-import quarterback Brad Sinopoli, decided to leave defensive end Ameet Pall, their 2012 first round draft pick off the final roster, and traded defensive back Geoff Tisdale to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats for a third round draft choice in 2014.

The most significant transaction was General Manager John Hufnagel’s decision to release Rambo. The eight year veteran was eighth overall in franchise history in receptions (406) and receiving yards (5995). Last year, Rambo was third on the Stampeders with 695 receiving yards and tied for the team lead in touchdown receptions with five. Rambo also has had NFL experience with the Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets.
