Don’t Mess With Mac

For a second straight year the Edmonton Oilers will finish dead last in the NHL, but they didn’t go down without a fight in their final home game on Friday night.

The first period of a 3-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild featured two game misconducts, four 10-minute misconducts, six major penalties and an even 100 penalty minutes! For you math whizzes out there, that equals out to five penalty minutes for each minute played in that opening frame! Another Shot?

Peter Forsberg’s on again, off again relationship with the NHL appears to be “on again.”

Well, not quite. But sort of.

The 37-year-old, who hasn’t played in the NHL since April of 2008 because of a recurring foot injury (among other things), is back in his old stomping grounds to see if he’s still got it. ESPN reports Forsberg will start skating with the Colorado Avalanche today in an effort to gauge where he’s at as far as conditioning and to see if his foot holds up at that level…(After the jump: More Forsberg, Nathan Gerbe & Flyers/Sens line brawl) (more…)
