The city of Edmonton put on a fantastic show Saturday for the Donovan Bailey Invitational. Unable to show off the city last year due to poor weather, many elite athletes were able to show off their skills at Edmonton’s Foote Field today.
Among the high quality athletes who performed in Edmonton Saturday were 100m champion Yohan Blake of Jamaica, who at 22 years of age, is set to give Olympic champion and fellow countryman Usain Bolt a definite run for his money in the most popular event at the Olympic Games. Blake ran 10.05 seconds Saturday, obviously not good enough to win Olympic Gold, but strong enough to win the most significant international track and field event on Canadian soil this year.
