Heading into the Edmonton Eskimos’ game in Montreal tonight, I wasn’t expecting much.
The Eskimos were coming off a sluggish performance last week in Winnipeg, and I feel overall, the Alouettes are a much stronger team as a whole. At the end of the day, my suspicions were accurate and the Alouettes won 27-4.
But I didn’t think the Eskimos offense would be that bad. Collectively, the Eskimos had -2 yards rushing. Yikes!
From a defensive perspective, you can’t blame the Eskimos defense as a collective unit very much. The Alouettes only recorded two majors and the Eskimos’ defense was on the field a ton because of the dismal offense. It was shocking in reviewing the game stats that Montreal only had the football for 3:50 more than Edmonton.
Penalties also hurt the Eskimos as they had four more than the Alouettes.
Montreal Alouettes’ quarterback Anthony Calvillo threw his 400th football pass when he connected with Jamal Richardson in the second quarter. Both the Alouettes and Eskimos are 5-2.
