The University of Connecticut Huskies are the 2011 March Madness Champions, or NCAA Basketball Champions after defeating the University of Butler Bulldogs 53-41 Monday night in Houston.
At the end of the day it could be considered one of the best defensive or worst offensive championship games in championship basketball history.
But did UConn win because of great defense or did Butler lose because their offense was simply and utterly deplorable?
Let’s take a look at the remarkable Husky defense first. The Huskies had 36 defensive rebounds to the Bulldogs 21. Sophomore center Alex Oriakhi had eleven rebounds and Kemba Walker had nine. The Huskies also had ten blocks and got a key steal and breakaway lay-up from Jeremy Lamb to put them up 31-26.
