Happy Monday!

This week on the show, we look at the tragic death of former NFL star Junior Seau and the latest bounty suspensions from that league, as well as news from the NHL that Raffi Torres is appealing his lengthy suspension. We also look at the situation in the Nashville Predators camp, along with speculation that the NY Islanders might soon have a new home.

In the GABBYs: Leo Messi, Jose Mourinho, Jered Weaver, the NY Knicks, the Montreal Canadiens and Jeremy Affeldt. The Punchline this week is, once again, the Charlotte Bobcats!

Kerrzy’s Notebook: When Sports Go Viral

Tuesday, January 24th, 2012

In this day in age, there’s really nothing better than a good viral video, right?

While that statement might not be entirely true, it’s no secret that internet-dwelling humans love watching random stuff from random corners of the internet! This week on “When Sports Go Viral,” I’ve got highlights, lowlights, a strange Japanese game show and some cute kids!

Are you ready?

We’re going to start this week with something rarely, or perhaps never, seen in hockey: the double one-timer! (more…)

Fired Up?

With “Crygate” now in their rear view mirrors (despite the rest of us still laughing about it), the Miami Heat are gearing up for a meeting with the LA Lakers tonight at AmericanAirlines Arena.

They beat the Lake Show 96-80 back on Christmas day, but a lot has changed since then in FLA! For starters, that last win came in the middle of a run that saw the Heat take 21 of 22 games. At that point I think we all kind of figured that they had sorted out how to win games together and would be unstoppable for the rest of the season. Oh, how wrong we were!

After that streak was over they lost four in a row, won 13 of 16 and now come into tonight’s action having lost five straight. They’re not just losing either, they’re blowing huge leads, getting blown out or losing tight games and (allegedly) crying about it in the locker room afterwards.

I haven’t weighed in on “Crygate” until now, but I think it’s time. Are you ready? (more…)

Do This Dunk

It’s All-Star weekend in the NBA, which to me means just one thing: The Dunk Contest!

I’m the same way when it comes to any All-Star weekend; in hockey I like the Skills Competition best, I’m a fan of baseball’s Home Run Derby and when it comes to the NBA, count me in for the Dunks!

After winning the title in each of the last two years, Boston’s Nate Robinson has decided to sit this one out. Instead, it’ll be Toronto’s DeMar DeRozan (who lost a tight decision last year), Oklahoma City’s Serge Ibaka, Washington’s JaVale McGee and Blake Griffin of the LA Clippers. (more…)

Karma Police II: Karma Harder

The Karma Police are working overtime this week trying to keep up with the goings on of the National Basketball Association…

On Tuesday, after the Cleveland Cavaliers lost by more than anyone should to the LA Lakers, former Cavs star LeBron James pointed out on Twitter that “Karma is a b****.” He has since come out to say that the tweet wasn’t about the game and wasn’t even a comment from him.

Either way, King James and his Heat lost to the lowly LA Clippers on Wednesday, capping a run of 21 wins in 22 games. To make matters worse, he sprained his ankle and missed his first game of the season on Thursday in Denver. To make matters even worse than that, without LeBron the Nuggets beat the Heat by almost 30 points! (more…)

Vote of Confidence

As a child I was led to believe by my schoolyard chums that Wednesday was ‘opposite day,’ at least when it suited whatever it was we were talking about…So I ask you, what is the opposite of a vote of confidence?

Lets let LA Clippers point guard Baron Davis take this one; he’s probably used to hearing it from the fans when he’s not playing well (like right now) but he, of all people, can take it a step further as his team’s owner has taken up heckling him! (more…)
