A few thoughts as I listen to Rush’s entire 2112 album.

I always love this time of year because of the anticipation of what kind of year it’s going to be for the Edmonton Oilers.

Since the minute their season ended I’ve been dreaming about trades, free-agent signings, draft picks, starting goaltenders and line combinations.  There are so many unknowns to the lineup and right now, the hype in my head has all of those unknowns turning out as best-case scenarios.

I always think that I can win the cup with the Oilers and their opening day lineups.

I also love this time of year because this is the only time where I expect to see the entire A-squad out for the Oilers. Usually (not this year) all of the players on the roster are healthy and have had an entire off-season (longer than 16 other teams) to recover and regroup from last season.

For this fight to happen though, GSP will have to give up his title and move up to 185-pounds (from 170), a challenge in itself.

So the question is: When the fight is over, whose arm will be raised? (more…)
