Tomlinson retires from NFL– How good do you think he was?

LaDainian Tomlinson (Wikimedia Commons)

One of the best running backs of all-time has decided to call it a career.

I will always have LaDainian Tomlinson in high regard because he played an instrumental role in winning me Calgary’s most prestigious fantasy football pool in 2007.

Tomlinson was  the NFL Most Valuable Player with the San Diego Chargers in 2006 when he had a career high 1815 rushing yards and set an NFL record with 31 touchdowns in a season.

Tomlinson played with the Chargers from 2001-2009 before going on to play two more years with the New York Jets.

Despite his outstanding regular season success however, a Super Bowl eluded him.

Week 9 NFL Picks

Saturday, November 5th, 2011

Arian Foster (AJ Guel, Wikimedia Commons)

I’m smoking hot folks. Last week I went 10-3 for the third straight week to improve to 79-37 on the year. If you’re not reading my weekly predictions blog, what is wrong with you?

Here are my week nine picks:

11am

Dallas over Seattle– The Seahawks are just lousy on the road, where they’re 1-3. I have become a hue fan of Cowboys’ running back DeMarco Murray, and I just don’t think Seattle can stop him.

Kansas City over Miami–The Chiefs have now won four straight after losing their first three. The Dolphins are very close to winning their first game of the season. They will play the Chiefs tight, but Kansas City will win by less than a touchdown.

New Orleans over Tampa Bay–The Saints are playing very inconsistent right now. They have lost to the Rams and Buccaneers on the road. But at home, they’re 5-0, and should be able to beat the Buccaneers, even though Tampa Bay has their number one running back, LeGarrette Blount back in the lineup.

Atlanta over Indianapolis–The Colts will go to 0-9. This one might be over at half time.

NY Jets over Buffalo–In a game that could go either way, Shonn Greene has combined for 269 yards over the last three games, and is playing at a very high level.

Houston over Cleveland–Even without wide receiver Andre Johnson, the Texans have many offensive weapons. Last week, Arian Foster came through with 112 rushing yards.

San Francisco over Washington–If the Redskins can’t score on the Bills, they won’t get many, if any, against the 49ers.

Weekend Sports Recap–January 8-9, 2011

Monday, January 10th, 2011

Marshawn Lynch (Ted Warren, Associated Press)

This is the right time for me to blow my own horn.

I successfully predicted the Seattle Seahawks to win on Saturday. So how did they beat the Saints 41-36? A combination of excellence through the air and on the ground. Matt Hasselbeck was spectacular, posting a quarterback rating of 113, and throwing four touchdowns for 272 yards. Hasselbeck found his tight end John Carlson twice and wide receivers Brandon Stokley and Mike Williams each once.
