Rick Nash is the second famous Nash raised in Canada traded in July.
Following Steve Nash’s (not related) deal to the Los Angeles Lakers from the Phoenix Suns earlier this month, Rick Nash was traded Monday from the Columbus Blue Jackets to the New York Rangers.
Nash, who had 30 goals and 29 assists this season was traded to the Rangers with third round pick and Steve Delisle for centres Brandon Dubinsky and Artem Anisimov, former Calgary Flame draft pick Tim Erixon, and a first round pick.
Who is Steve Delisle you ask? Well he is a defenceman that only recorded 4 points in 38 games in the East Coast Hockey League last season.
The Blue Jackets probably got as much as they could have possibly dreamed of for Nash. Dubinsky, is considered a checking line forward who had 207 hits last season. Anisimov has shown flashes of brilliance, but needs to show more overall consistency to his game to become the next Pavel Bure rather than the next Nikolai Zherdev.
By the Rangers picking up Nash, a Stanley Cup expectation is now on Broadway. Nash joins Marian Gaborik and Brad Richards in New York. Oh, and yeah, they have Henrik Lundqvist too.
