It was an all-American final Sunday at the World Match Play Golf Championship in Tucson, Arizona on Sunday.
American Matt Kuchar defeated Hunter Mahan on the 17 hole to win his second significant tournament in the last two years. Kuchar won the 2012 Players Championship by two strokes.
Kuchar, who improved to 15-3 at the World Match Play Championships, looked very comfortable in the Tucson desert, despite the cold winds and frigid temperatures. Kuchar and Mahan each played Sunday with a toque.
Kuchar, the sixth seed in the Ben Hogan bracket, defeated Hiroyuki Fujita of Japan in the first round 3 & 2, Sergio Garcia of Spain in the second round 2 & 1, Nicolas Colsaerts of Belgium 4 & 3 in the third round, Robert Garrigus of the United States in the quarterfinals 3 & 2, and Jason Day of Australia 4 & 3 in the semi-finals.
